The Winners of the Week

There were many reasons to celebrate at the gala night of Suzuki Nine Queens presented by O’Neill. The awards winners were nominated through peer voting, with the focus throughout of creativity, progression and fun.  The riders were buzzing after an excellent heli-shoot session and in a elated mood, watched their footage and photos from the week to vote for “Best GoPro shot”, “Best style” and “Overall” skier and snowboarder of the week.

An integral part of Nine Queens is the photorapher’s awards. The four invited photographers Eleonora Raggi (ITA), Christoph Schöch (GER), Alex Papis (AUT) and Nate Abbot (USA) spent the week working closely together with the riders to ensure that the top notch riding and epic set-up was documented in style. The photographers chose the categories for themselves; Best Action, Best Illumination, Best Group Action and Best Lifestyle.

The room was full of dancing and cheering as the preroll of the event footage kicked in, and the heavy baseline pumped as the weeks action rolled out in front of the girls. Beloved event director, Nico Zacek hyped the crowd, and began presenting the photographers.PHOTOGRAPHERS

These guys deserve mad props as they were crazy dedicated hiking the course with incredibly heavy backpacks, editing late into the night and some even climbed ski lift pilons to get their best shots. In the spirit of the event the cool as cucumber photographers were sometimes shooting side by side and helping each other, bouncing ideas just like the riders!

Photos will be published soon on http://www.ninequeens.com.  Stay tuned!

Suzuki Nine Queens presented by O'Neill 2014Best action shot was awarded to the extremely talented and LOVELY Eleonora Raggi, who was ecstatic to receive a new Völkl split board. And, yes it was Eleonora who climbed the pilon to get a unique angle of the course.

The “Best GoPro Shot” saw a collection of insane shots. Two rippers who were set on nailing the shot were skiers Grete Eliassen (left) and Katie Summerhayes (right), who used all the skills they learned in the GoPro workshop at the start of the week. The ambitious camera toss from Greta to Katie while on the GoPro axe box impressed fellow riders. The girls got 2000$ from GoPro!
