The second day of the Suzuki Nine Queens presented by O’Neill started with a happy surprise as bluebird conditions met the riders heading up to “il Castello” on Mottolino Fun Mountain. Throughout the day the freeskiers and snowboarders rode side by side sessioning one feature after the other. Check out the 100% GoPro Moment video with freeskier Emma Dahlström from Sweden was going big with a super stylish cork 720 tail grab.
The level is already pretty insane and adjustments had been made to all the obstacles after the first day’s feedback, and everyone was stoked on it! (check out the GoPro Course Check video if you did not see it.)

After the first day’s speed checks and test runs the girls were throwing down in the kicker photo session that continued well into a beautiful sunset which lit up the Livigno sky. Jenny Jones (GBR) stomped a massive frontside 720 with text book precision while Isabel Derungs (SUI) was working on her stylish backside 720, Spencer O’Brien (CAN) was stomping some super nice backside 540’s. Out of the skiers Zuzana Stromkova (SVK) was going for rodeo 720s and Emma Dahlström (SWE) turned heads with a beautiful cork 720 tail grab.

The Blue Tomato rail also saw a fun session, where two of the determined freeskiers Lisa Zimmermann (GER) and Katie Summerhayes (GBR) intently concentrated on nailing a K-Fed (a front switch-up blind 270 out). Will be interesting to see if they can stomp it in Saturday’s competition session.

In the meantime, Virginie Faivre and Anais Caradeux the Swiss/French connection where having a blast pushing the limits of the pipe extension with layback slides on each side. Reaching up to 7 meters it could possibly be claimed to be one of the highest half pipe extensions out there. Some picturesque images also were captured at the quarter pipe where the girls were all trying to better one and other’s hand plants.

Another sunset shoot will take place today so stay tuned for images and video from Livigno!
