Nine Queens is all about progressing the sport – in a lot of different aspects. The girls throw down with incredible skill, but they are not the only ones that make Nine Queens so special and progressive. Some of the best sports photographers and videographers in the world were invited to Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis and produced truly impressive results. The picture and video submissions will be up soon, let’s celebrate the winners first and look at their awesome prizes!
First, the riders. To rule the Nine Queens, you need to do more than just throw down one or two amazing tricks. It takes consistent style and skill to win the Prize for “Ruler of the Week”. Coline Ballet-Baz was able to maintain a very high level throughout the week and charmed the judges not only with her positive attitude but mostly her stylish and extensive skill set. She is invited by Red Bull to visit the X Games in Munich coming summer. See you there, Coline!
As the winner of the Nine Queens Contest Day, it is no surprise that Lisa Zimmermann has a few massively huge tricks in her repertoire. One of them is a beautifully steezy Double 12 that won her the Prize for best trick: a surf trip to Fuerteventura paid for by Blue Tomato and high-end headphones by Philips | O’Neill.
She is called the Style Queen for a reason and proved herself worthy of that nickname once more at the Nine Queens 2013: Maude Raymond was oozing steeze on ever run and was rewarded with the Best Style award and a set of Dotz rims to ride in style.
The people behind the lense worked hard this past week to capture the Queens’ biggest tricks and best moments. Without them, Nine Queens would not be possible and their talent needs to be applauded. Arguably the biggest category in any extreme sports event is the Best Action Photo. Therefore Jeremy Bernard has every reason to plaster a look of sheer excitement on his face and look forward to his surf trip to Fuerteventura, paid for by Blue Tomato.
Creativity plays a big role in photography and an award in this category is something to be really proud of. His pictures accompanied us during the week and his shots were without fail creative and aesthetically superb. Congratulations Christoph Schöch for winning Best Creative Angle and bagging a weekend in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, this time to relax and hit the powder.
When a whole bunch of Freeki Queens get together for a week, there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes, some of which makes for great pictures. Eleonora Raggi was able to capture some of these moments in her beautiful winning Best Lifestyle shot and is invited to the X Games in Munich by Red Bull.
A Diptrick is a technique not mastered by many, an all the more impressive award to bring home. Jeremy Bernard was able to convince the jury of his peers in this category as well and gets to take an O’Neill wetsuit on his surfing trip.
Last but certainly not least, we are proud to announce the winner of the Video Contest. Mathieu Mazuel blew everybody off their feet with his submission and you can expect to be impressed once it hits the airwaves. Congratulations on taking home a Contour Plus2, an F-Stop backpack, The Crash headphones by Philips | O’Neill!
As if all those prizes weren’t enough, all photographers were provided with a brand new pair of Dalbello ski boots.
Thanks to all our partners for their massive support in making Nine Queens a complete success!
